British Telecom has won an award for its NATO demonstrator UAV swarm control from an interactive touch table.
The advantage of this software, from the research project Susie team led by Gilles Coppin, is to enable very intuitive, allocate all or part of a swarm of UAVs in surveillance zone determined: road, valley, city limits. This area and the number of drones that are affected may at any time be changed by the user with a simple drawing of the finger on the touch table. The swarms of drones technology has applications well beyond the military
sphere. One can indeed imagine the use for environmental monitoring, particularly for control of forest fires and marine pollution.
