Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday appointed a new Chief of the Defence to the West African country, calling him to work hard to strengthen and preserve national integrity.
The new Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Ola Ibrahim, replaces Chief Oluseyi Petinrin, retired. He was chief of the naval unit before being appointed by the President of Nigeria.
"We hope that the new Chief of Defence will continue to work hard for the nation," said the president in a statement.
The head of the Nigerian army in exercise, Lieutenant General Ihejirika Azubike, continues to hold office. Nigerian president has appointed the head of the naval unit and the head of the air unit.
