Romania, the third export customer PVP

The Small Protected Vehicle of the French manufacturer Panhard recorded a few months ago a new export command with Romania. Fifteen of these were light armored Bucharest controlled by its security forces.Romania becomes the third country export for this vehicle 5 ton after Togo (6 vehicles) and Chile (ten PVP). Asked by FOB, the French manufacturer did not want to communicate this new contract. Still, this is good news for Panhard, which will soon complete French supplies. 1000th PVP will be delivered at the end of the month to the Army, while each additional one hundred vehicles passed by the Ministry of Defence in 2011 would be "postponed indefinitely" according to Les Echos (edition of 31 August).

Without export orders, production lines in both PVP and VBL could soon idling. Remains that the acquisition of Panhard by industrial Renault Trucks Defense (Volvo Group), which is expected to become effective in October, should relieve the small French company.

4 × 4 vehicle, transportable, armor can carry up to 5 passengers. Its gross weight of 5555 kg, was increased by 200 kg since the last version of MK1 2008, by strengthening its connection to the soil and relief structure. Deployed in Lebanon since the end of 2009 and in Afghanistan since 2010 and in Georgia by Police, protection, Stanag level 2, has recently been improved to reflect the increasing threat of IEDs and mines. PVP is the product of the two industrial sites Panhard Marolles-en-Hurepoix (Essonne) and Saint-Germain-Laval (Loire). It can be armed with a 7.62 mm turret.
