Afghanistan: 400 foreign military bases are already closed


Nearly 400 bases and sites foreign troops in Afghanistan are already closed when transferred to local security forces, told reporters Bryan Watson, member of the American command.

The troops of the NATO International Security Assistance in Afghanistan currently have nearly 800 bases and sites of which only 12 are great.

The Afghan army will take control of security in the country by mid-2013. The final withdrawal of all foreign troops is expected by the end of 2014.


Airplanes and helicopters currently deployed on several foreign bases will not be transferred to Afghan forces, said Mr Watson.
